The challenge
Since its beginnings, Celler Avgvstvs Forvm has had a clear vocation for sustainability that is applied to the practice of the tasks carried out in the vinification and winery phases. To highlight the sustainability of its management, it wishes to evaluate the implementation and certification of the Sustainable Wineries For Climate Protection (WFCP) scheme, which has been developed by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV), to certify those wineries that carry out good practices from the point of view of sustainability.
The solution
At Zirkel we have developed the management tools and ESG indicators defined by the Wineries For Climate Protection (WFCP) certification scheme, among which we highlight the calculation of the Carbon Footprint of the winemaking and winery stages (scopes 1, 2 and 3). The certification is based on 4 Dimensions that addresses all key aspects of sustainability:
ENVIRONMENTAL
- GHG emissions
- Energy efficiency
- Water Management
- Waste management
- Soil and biodiversity
SOCIAL
- Workers and suppliers
- Territory and local culture
- Consumer health and safety
ECONOMIC
- Efficiency
- Resilience
GOVERNANCE
- Ethical behaviour
- Sustainability management and communication
- Stakeholder relations
Value contributed
Obtaining the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection certification has brought significant value to Celler Avgvstvs Forvm, demonstrating its sustainability and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, it has allowed them to obtain a differential recognition in the national and international market. Measuring and obtaining greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in scopes 1, 2 and 3 has provided an accurate diagnosis of the winery's environmental impact. This has made it possible to design a reduction plan focused on optimising processes and making decisions that contribute significantly to reducing the carbon footprint.
