The challenge

Smart Point has recognised the importance of having verifiable and comparable information on the environmental impacts of the Smart Point Locker product. We have been asked to collaborate with them to produce a type III environmental label (EPD) for the Smart Point Locker.

The solution

A cradle to grave life cycle assessment has been carried out. The project has been structured in the following stages:

1) Description of the product life cycle.
2) Compilation of inventory data and assumptions for life cycle development.
3) Elaboration of the life cycle analysis, interpretation of the results, and drafting of the documents.
4) Accompaniment during the verification phase of the EPD to ensure its conformity with the established standards.

Value contributed

Obtaining the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) has allowed us to understand the distribution of environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle, to contribute to Smart Point's transparent and relevant communication to its customers and to support its commitment to sustainability.

Making an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD/EPD) provides quantified and verifiable information on the environmental performance of a product. It is an analysis throughout the life cycle of the product to assess its environmental impact. The assessment must be in accordance with the principles of ISO 14025.
